Ella noticed the watch on the playground just before the bell rang. It was old and scratched, and one of the hands had stopped moving. She picked it up and slipped it into her pocket, planning to hand it in later.
All through maths, Ella kept glancing at the watch. She wondered who it belonged to and how it had been broken. When the lesson ended, she made her decision and headed for the school office
