 Grammar Warm Up

LC: to use modal verbs to indicate degrees of possibility

Choose a modal verb and a pronoun/noun. 

Write a sentence that includes both. 

For example:

She should wear a coat in winter. 

Babies must sleep for 12 hours a night.

We  might go out for an early playtime.

LC: to identify and discuss the conventions of the language of discussion

You will be given a topic to think about. 

Make notes using short bullet points either FOR the topic (supporting and agreeing) or AGAINST the topic (disagreeing). 

For example:

Should children be allowed to choose where they sit in class? 

LC:  To be able to read and interpret information presented in a table and turn it into a line graph. To be able to determine the relationships between data sets.

LC: Why do Muslims commemorate the night of power?
