Grammar Warm Up
LC: to identify what makes an effective simile starter


Look at the simile starters.
Discuss with your talk partner:
- where does the simile come in the sentence?
- what punctuation comes after the simile starter?
- which words show it is a simile?

Let's use these answers to create Success Criteria for an effective simile starter.

Think about the contrast between characters.
Contrast means two things that are different to each other.
For example:
Jennie - spreads gossip and lies about people in a way that makes others believe it is the truth.
Josie - heard what her dad said about immigrants which she thinks must be the truth (because her dad said it) but has doubts about this truth because she has met Ahmet.

Talk to your partner about the contrast between these two characters. How are they different to each other?

What does this tell us about the importance of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Muhammad is the final prophet in Islam, known as the 'Seal of the Prophets'. This means that Muslims regard Muhammad as Allah's final messenger.
