LC: to identify simile starters and to begin to know how to create one

Read these sentences:

With eyes as pale as a lion, Ahmet stared at the class. 

As fast as a bullet, Josie raced to the finishing line. 

As calm as a midnight sea, Mrs Khan walked Ahmet to the gate. 

 

What do you notice about how these sentences begin?

1. The writer is comparing a lion and Ahmet.

2. They both have pale eyes.

What do you think “power” means?

How could a person use their power for good in school? 

What is bullying? Can you think of any examples?

 

Bullying

• Bullying is not just falling-out or one-off unkind comment — it’s deliberate, repeated and causes hurt.

• We ALL have some kind of power: how we act, what we say, whether we include or exclude.

• Using that power for good means choosing to help, include, speak up, support — even small actions matter.

• Online behaviour matters just as much as face-to-face.

• If you’re affected by bullying (either as target or witness) you should talk to a trusted adult.

• Being kind and respectful helps create a school culture where bullying doesn’t thrive.
