LC: To spell words ending in ‘-able’ and ‘-ible’.

Suffixes ‘-able’ and ‘-ible’ can be tricky because they often sound the same.

Whilst there aren’t hard and fast rules, we are going to investigate to see if there are any ways to help us to remember the spellings.

Let's look at the below ‘-able’ word and mark the root word and the suffix.

1. Write the below spellings in your spelling books.

2. With your talk partner look at and discuss the below ‘-able’/’-ible’ words. What do you notice? Can you find any patterns?
