LC: Know the importance of forgiveness in the teachings of Christianity.
Talk partners: Can you remember what forgiveness means?
When a crowd had gathered to see and listen to him, Jesus taught them many things about the kind of people God wanted them to be. Included in his teachings were important messages about prayer. He said:
“This, then, is how you should pray."
Then he taught them this prayer. Each part of it has a special meaning.
What does it teach Christians about forgiveness?
This is the whole prayer:
Jesus also taught , “If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you”
Peter, one of Jesus' disciples, asked him how often it is necessary to forgive, and Jesus replied, “Seventy-seven times”
