LC- To know who the Anglo-Saxons were and where they came from.

Towards the end of the Roman time in Britain, our land was attacked by different tribes from Europe. The Romans fought them off  but when the Romans left Britain (410AD), the Britons were left to protect themselves and, to be honest, they weren't very good at it. They had become used to living under Roman rule and protection.

The following map shows where the invaders came from. The Scots came from Ireland and took over land in the north. That became know as Scotland.  The Jutes, Angles and Saxons came from what is now Denmark and also Germany. Other groups tried to invade too.

The map below shows where in Britain the different groups settled.

Most of the land in England was taken over by the Angles and the Saxons. They became known as the Anglo Saxons and we will be learning about the impact this group of people had on Britain.

Your task

On a blank map of Britain, show where the different invaders settled and label with who they were.

Adapted
