LC: To innovate a new character-the villain.

We will be looking at some villains from well known stories and using these to inspire our very own villain in our independent plot of Rumaysa. You can also use some inspiration from the character, Cordelia the witch.

Task: write a short character description of your new villain.

LC: To reflect on the key messages from parables that could be passed on to others.

Which parables have we looked at?

What did they teach us?

Who might you recommend these parables to and why?

Fables and parables contain messages that have been passed on from generation to generation to guide people to live good lives.

Task: Identify one or two key messages that you would like to be pass on.

How could you teach others or pass on these messages to others?

Adapted

WAGGOL:

What Did It Teach Us?

The Parable of the Good Samaritan teaches several important lessons:

  • Show kindness to everyone, even to people who are different from you.

  • Help others in need, even when it’s inconvenient or you gain nothing in return.

  • Your “neighbour” means anyone who needs your compassion, not just friends or people you like.

  • True goodness is shown through actions, not just words.

Who Might You Recommend This Parable To and Why?

You might recommend this parable to:

  • Someone who struggles to get along with others — it shows the value of empathy and understanding.

  • Someone who tends to ignore people in need — it encourages them to take action and help.

  • A group or community dealing with division — it teaches unity, care, and compassion across differences.

  • Children or young people — to help them learn the importance of kindness early in life.

Task: Key Messages You Want to Pass On

Here are some examples of one or two strong messages you might choose:

  1. “Always be kind, even when it’s difficult.”

  2. “Help people who need it, no matter who they are.”

  3. “Treat others the way you want to be treated.”

  4. “Small actions of kindness can make a big difference.”

Choose the ones that feel most meaningful to you.

How Could You Teach or Pass On These Messages to Others?

You could pass on these messages in many positive and creative ways, such as:

1. Through Your Behaviour

  • Lead by example: show kindness in your daily life.

  • Help classmates, friends, or neighbours when they need support.

2. Through Stories

  • Retell the parable or write your own modern version.

  • Share stories that show kindness being put into action.

3. Through School or Community Activities

  • Start a kindness challenge in class or at school.

  • Create posters, presentations, or assemblies about helping others.

4. Through Conversations

  • Talk to younger children about why helping others matters.

  • Encourage friends to think about how their actions affect others.

5. Through Creative Work

  • Make art, videos, or poems that highlight kindness.

  • Write a short fable or parable with a similar lesson.

Adapted 2:

Draw a poster with the key messages of the good Samaritan that your family and friends could use in their lives.

  • Are any of you going away this holiday season?
  • Where are you going and to see who?
  • What’s the furthest that some of you have been before and why did you go there?
  • How do you feel when you go on a journey?
  • How do you think Mary and Joseph felt when they went on the long journey to Bethlehem?
