"I'm hungry. Are you hungry?" said Kenneth.

"If we found the treasure, under the  castle, we could buy food. Oats for porridge, wheat for bread, tatties and neeps for soup. Maybe even sugar for cakes!"

"Even if you found them, how would you choose which one to open?" asked Kenneth.

"The magical stories are true!" said Kenneth.

"The doors are real so the treasure must be real," whispered Ishbel.

"Gold!" gasped Ishbel.

"That's not gold, that's poison!" yelled Kenneth.

"Did you see the monster?" spluttered Kenneth.

Then the green creature began to swim across the loch, and Ishbel whispered, "I think she's taking us home."

LC: Orally retell a story using intonation and expression.

This is the story of Angus and Elspeth meeting the Loch Ness Monster for the first time. We will use it to help us plan and write our own stories for Year 2 and 3 children.

We can learn the story to help us remember the plot, structures and features to include.

Let's practise together, then in pairs. You can practise at home too!!

LC: Reflect on what it means to respect the differences and similarities between people and recognise what you have in common with others.

Vocabulary:

similarity            How things are alike

difference          How things are not alike

diversity         The variety of different things or people.

How are these apples alike? How are they different?

Different people have lots of things in common with each other. They also have lots of differences.

Let's find out what these differences might be.

Although we are all part of our Stoneyholme School community and we are alike in many ways, each one of us is unique - there is no one quite like me!

Let's find out in what ways we are different . Work with the person you are sitting next to.

Does having differences mean that we can't get along?

Mutual tolerance and respect means accepting and respecting those differences.

It would be a very boring world if everyone was the same.
