LC: Use intonation and expression to perform a poem
Nessie the Loch Ness Monster
In Scotland's Loch Ness, so deep and so grand,
Lives a creature, they say, from the watery land.
With a long, scaly neck and a curious peek,
It's Nessie the monster, so shy and so sleek.
She hides in the depths, a mysterious friend,
Some say she's a myth, but the stories don't end.
She'll swim through the water, a flash and a gleam,
Then vanish again, like a wonderful dream.
So if you visit Loch Ness,
Keep your eyes on the waves,
You might catch a glimpse of the legend who saves her secret so well,
In the loch, dark and blue, Nessie the monster, waiting for you!
Are there any words in the poem we're not sure about the meaning of? Let's use a dictionary to check.
We are going to perform the poem. Can you remember what you have learned about performing poetry?
Work with a partner and decide how you would perform the poem.
Now let's listen to each other's ideas then have a go!
