LC: To write the last two paragraphs for an independent write

Let's take a quick look at what you should have already written. Take your green pen and get ready to edit!

Paragraph 1

Your main character is doing their chosen activity, they feel like they are being watched. How is your character feeling? What are they thinking? The Iron Man is seen by your main character.

Have you added the following? If not, can you edit and check where you could add any of the below in to your work.

Combine characters and setting.

Complex sentences with commas to separate clauses.

Conjunctions.

Paragraph 2:

In this section, your character will run home frightened, to go and tell a family member about the Iron Man. Your character and their family member will go to tell the people in the neighbourhood.

Inverted commas for speech.

 

Today, you will be writing paragraph 3 and 4.

Paragraph 3:

In the third section, you need to include how the people of the neighbourhood come up with a plan to dig a hole and wait for the Iron man to arrive.

Includes the conjunction ‘because’.

Adverbs.

Complex sentences with commas to separate clauses.

 

Paragraph 4

In the last paragraph, your main character creates a trap for the Iron man and he falls in to the trap. Your main character feels guilty.

Include powerful verbs.

Today we are going to learn about the main achievements in the Iron Age. 

Key Vocabulary

tribe - a social group made up of many families, clans, or generations that share the same language, customs, and beliefs.

settlement - a place where people live and sometimes work.

Around 800 BC people in Britain learned how to use iron. This discovery had a dramatic impact on everyday life. Iron tools made farming much easier than before and settlements grew in size.

People in Iron Age Britain lived in clans that belonged to tribes led by warrior kings. Rival tribes fought with deadly iron weapons.
