LC: To recognise that rights and have responsibilities.
Whole Class
As a class we are going to create a rights and responsibilities chart!
Let's look at the rights below and discuss their responsibilities.
Every child has the right to an education. Primary education should be free. Secondary and higher education should be available to every child. Children should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level possible. Discipline in schools should respect children’s rights and never use violence.
What is the responsibility to the above right?
Children have the right to get information from the Internet, radio, television, newspapers, books and other sources. Adults should make sure the information they are getting is not harmful. Governments should encourage the media to share information from lots of different sources, in languages that all children can understand.
What is the responsibility to the above right?
Every child with a disability should enjoy the best possible life in society. Governments should remove all obstacles for children with disabilities to become independent and to participate actively in the community.

LC: To read aloud your own writing to a group or whole class.
Everyone should have completed their explanation booklet!
Before we put them in the Global Garden, we are going to show them to other children in the class and then read them aloud.
I am going to read my explanation booklet to you.
How did I read it? Could you hear every word?
What do you need to think of when you are reading your explanation text?
Activity
Groups of three:
1. Take turns showing your group members your booklets.
2. Read your explanation texts aloud with confidence.
LC: To be able to read weighing scales to determine mass in kilograms.

LC: To identify what a plant needs to survive.

What can you remember about plants?
What do they need to survive?
Let's have a look at the experiment we set up last week.
If a plant is not watered enough, its stem will be fragile and have very dry leaves. It will eventually die.
If a plant does not have enough light, it will grow to be tall and flimsy as it searches for light. It will probably die.
The roots take up water and nutrients from the soil.
Plants take in carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air and convert it into glucose (a type of sugar) to make their own type of food through the process of photosynthesis.
If the plant/ seed does not have enough space, it will not grow.
