Welcome to the class pages of Class 5M. Here you will find information about your children's timetable and learning.
The class teacher is Mrs Mistry. The Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) are Miss Mitchell and Miss Paul.
Weekly Timetable
Autumn 1
English
Our study this half term will focus on the traditional writing of Legends. We will study a traditional story, 'The Legend of Gelert', and will write our own legend narrative using the structures and features of this traditional text.
We will then produce an information text booklet about the achievements and the significance of the Ancient Greeks that will link to our History learning.
Reading
Our Reading lessons will focus on information retrieval and deduction and inference skills. We will use the text, 'The Mysterious Benedict Society' to make connections between and within texts in order to explore how writers create an effect on the reader.
Maths
We will begin our Year 5 learning in Maths by exploring Place Value. We will review how to read and write numbers to 100,000 and then move on to compare 6 digit numbers using bar models. We will learn about number patterns and how to round numbers.
Science
In Science, we will learn about the effects of different forces and assess their impact in our lives. We carry out experiments to discover the effects of these forces.
History
Our study in History will focus on the Ancient Greek civilisation and their significant achievements that still impact us today.
RE
Our unit of study this half term will focus on Christianity and God. We will explore the beliefs and values that Christians hold dear and see that living religious traditions they ascribe to.
PSHCE
In PSHCE this half term, we are looking at respectful relationships and will identify what makes a healthy and happy relationship. We will explore the relationships we have with our families and those who care for us.
Art
Our work in Art will link to the Ancient Greeks and our History unit. We will study ancient Greek art and design, producing our own version of this style using drawing, painting and digital imagery.
