Rights Respecting

Stoneyholme is a rights respecting school. Every year we look at our rights and identify what you need to do as right holders and what we need to do as duty bearers!

Today we will be focusing on two very important articles.

Article 13 (freedom of expression) - Every child must be free to express their thoughts and opinions and to access all kinds of information, as long as it is within the law.

Article 28 (right to education) - Every child has the right to an education. Primary education must be free and different forms of secondary education must be available to every child. Discipline in schools must respect children’s dignity and their rights. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.

Activity

You will be put into groups and given an article to focus on.

You need to identify all the things you will need to do as the right holders.

Whilst you are doing this, I will create a list of all the things myself and other Year 5 teachers will need to do as duty bearers!
