Observation is key to understanding how to create a portrait. Proportion/Scale and form are also important to create a quality portrait. The use of form can be expressed through, use of mark, line, tone ( light and dark).
Discuss how these Artist’s create their work.
Here are a few examples of portraits inspired by Shakespeare’s masterpiece Macbeth.
Portrait drawing, painting is one of the most difficult things to do. To capture the true likeness of the subject ( sitter). Making sure the proportions are correct, will help towards capturing the best results.
You will attempt to draw today, the basic shapes, features of a face. Demonstrating your understanding of anatomy of the human face.

Rembrandt uses this to showcase his fantastic ability as a painter.
Consider the characters from Macbeth and their facial characteristics.
Think about how to demonstrate Chiaroscuro within your work, proportions and scale of features.
Use Dynamic gestures, a mixture of lines and marks to create a base image.
