Noun Phrases:
A noun phrase is a technical term for a group of words that contains a noun, along with modifying words for that noun.
As a reminder, a noun names a person, place, thing, or idea. The noun phrase will contain a noun along with words that describe or modify the noun. Even a simple modifier, such as a number or an article like ‘the’ or ‘a’ turns the group of words (including the noun) into a noun phrase.

LC: Be able to spell words on the Year 4 world list.
The words below are all on the Year 4 word list.
Take it turns with your partner to test each other one at a time. SO if you test your partner on the first word, they will test you on the second and so on.
When you have finished, swap over - they will test you on the first word, you will test them on the second and so on.
Make a note of any you got wrong and practise these for homework.

Reread Chapter 4 of the Hodgeheg then write your responses to the questions below. Some are retrieval and some you need to infer based on evidence in the text. Remember to say what evidence you used.

LC: To describe what happens to a sound as it travels away from its source.
We are going to take part in a little experiment. We are going to see what happens to a sound as we move further away from the source.
To complete a scientific experiment, we have to make sure that we test things fairly or our results will be wrong.
Talk to the others on your table about how you think we can test this question out. Your teacher will guide you.
You might want to think about these:
What can we use as a sound source?
How can we make sure the sound doesn't change in volume?
How are we going to test the distance?
Scientists always record their findings so that is what we will do. Remember to consider how you can make your test fair.
