Fox hunting
In this chapter, we will read about Lou being invited to a fox hunt.
Fox hunting used to involve the tracking, chasing and killing of a fox by trained foxhounds and a group of followers led by a master of foxhounds, who followed the hounds on foot or horseback. Fox hunting with hounds had existed for 400 years and was developed as a means of entertainment for the aristocracy. (A class of people who have a high social position because of the family they are born into. Members of the aristocracy are usually richer and have more privileges than other members of society.) Fox hunting in this way is banned now in England.
