LC: To have a realistic idea of how much common items weigh.

2 kg is about the mass of a large bottle of milk or water.

How many potatoes would have a similar total mass?

Although potatoes have different sizes,  Hannah is choosing potatoes that weigh about 200 g each.

How many of these would have a mass of about 2 kg?

What is wealth?

Read this list and select the three things that are most important to you.

Do the things on your ‘important’ list all need money to get them?

Let's work down the list, deciding which things depend on the availability of money, and which don’t.

Do you think we need money to make us happy?

Have you ever heard the phrase ‘money is the root of all evil’.

What do you  think the saying means?

We can do some great things with money, but we can also do some bad things with it.

For example, money can provide health services, be given to help people less fortunate than ourselves, buy food and clothes that we need and buy gifts for friends and family.

However, money can also be used to buy drugs or weapons, exploit the poor and make bribes.

Time for reflection

Paul, a follower of Jesus, said that the love of money could cause harm.

Even 2,000 years ago, there was still the problem of people wanting more and more possessions.

Think about what you value most in your life?

If we stop to think about it, the things that we value most probably don’t cost any money! Things like friendship, love of family etc.

Let’s not get so absorbed by money that we become selfish and ungenerous.

Spend a few quiet moments thinking about someone who matters to you and ways that you can make it clear to that person today.
