LC: To use a dictionary to check the meaning of words that have been read.

Yesterday we looked at putting some words in to alphabetical order. Can you try putting the following words in to alphabetical order with your partner on your whiteboards? You only have 2 minutes! Let's see who can do it the fastest!

Let's go through the order together...

Now, let's continue with our story of The Wild Robot. We read the first chapter and found the meaning of some words.

Quick reminder, what do the following words mean:

We will read chapter 2 and practice our skills to find words from a dictionary.

Today we are going to add another task to finding the meaning of the word from the dictionary. You are also going to be checking to see if the dictionary tells you if the word is a noun, adjective or a verb.
