Wednesday

Can we create a yoghurt following a design?

Last week we designed our own unique British food flag yoghurt to sell in our yoghurt cafe.

Talk partner

Look at your books and think of the fruit you added to your yoghurt.

Today we are going to use our design to make our yoghurts in The Cooking Pot.

Remember you will only be using seasonal British fruit to make your yoghurt look like a British flag (Union Jack).

Orally compose every sentence before writing.

Re-read every sentence to check it makes sense.

Writing Lesson

Today you are going to write your persuasive advert for the controller so he can decide which train he wants to join his team.

Imagine your are in Trains R Us toy shop and you are sat on the shelf. How will you persuade someone to buy you and not the train next to you?

You have 5 minutes to practise your persuasion, then record yourself on seesaw.

Use your learning from yesterday to help!

Now your teacher will write the model below, you could use the model to write about your own train.

Now it’s time to write down your persuasive advert. Remember to say your sentences before writing them and read them back to check they make sense.

Remember:-

capital letters for names and at the start of sentences.
full stops and !
‘When’
Conjunctions - and, because

Neat handwriting.

Today we are going to be revisiting addition!

Lets use our white boards and tens frame to workout the questions!

Remember to write the full number sentence!

Can you write the full number sentence?

Using the number line and counting on can you solve these questions?

How can we prepare to move to a new year group?

As we are coming to the end of Year 1, it is time to think about what it means to move to a new year group.

Talk with your partner:

What will change?

What will stay the same?

For some, the opportunity to move to a new year group will be exciting. For others, it might be worrying.

Remember- there are no right or wrong emotions. Everyone is unique.

Let's discuss:

What can we expect to happen?

  • Getting to know a new teacher
  • Moving to a new classroom
  • Staying in the same unit, using the same toilets, yard & library
  • Belonging to the same community
  • Different days for PE
  • The same structure to the day
  • Similar learning environments (Learning Walls, Reading Areas)

What would you say to the new children coming into Year 1 about what to expect?

Your teacher will record your ideas to send down to Reception to help them prepare for September.
