Thursday
Sequence sentences to form short narratives - un, because, and when.
Today we are going to write the middle part of our innovated narrative of Jack and the Beanstalk together as a class!
Narrative is another word for story.
Your teacher will model writing the sentences and you will write them in your books.
Remember to share your amazing ideas with everyone!
Make sure your sentences start with a capital letter, you leave spaces between words, your handwriting is beautiful and your sentences end with a full stop.
Can we identify trees which lose their leaves and those that keep them all year to help us describe changes over time?
Last week, we went on a tree hunt to identify trees by their leaves. Can you remember any of the names? Look in your Science books to help you.
We know that some trees are deciduous and some are evergreen. Can you remember what these words mean?
Let's take a look in more detail.
Some people think of a tree losing leaves as a bad thing, like if we were to lose money, but for a tree, this is not the case! Trees shred or 'get rid of' their leaves as a way of protecting themselves like when we put a coat on in cold weather.
Trees protect themselves by becoming dormant. Can you say that word? Tell it to your partner.
This means that the trees are less active. They hold onto water and stop growing.
Now it's your turn to arrange these into decidious and evergreen. Look at the checklist to help you
Can we interpret what the father represents?
Let's have a recap of what we have learnt in the past 2 lessons!
Let’s read a famous story from the bible.
The Parable of the Lost Son
The Parable of the Lost Son is one of Jesus’ best-known parables.
In the Lost Son Parable, we learn about the relationship between a father and his two sons. The plot centres around the younger son who, impatient and greedy, asks his father for his inheritance. The father agrees, but the son wastes his money, eventually becoming homeless.
In the end, to the son’s great surprise, he is welcomed back into the family by his father and brother. If you’d like to read the Parable of the Lost Son yourself.

How does the parable make you feel?
What is the role of the father in the story of the Parable of the Lost Son?
Let’s imagine the father represents God, who do his sons represent?
Now write down a sentence about the Father(God). Think about the parable…
The role of the father is…
The father represents God because…
Now let's watch the story!
