Orally retell familiar stories in a range of contexts.

Grammar

Can you find the words ending in ‘ing’, ‘ed’ and ‘er’.

- I walked down the long, twisty road faster than the old man.

- I was looking outside and there was an enormous beanstalk.

- I carefully climbed up the beanstalk.

In todays lesson we are going to orally re-tell Jack and the beanstalk story, as a class we are going to come up with actions to help us remember the story.

Now we are going to start to innovate the story. Think about what Jack might need to sell at the market instead of the cow  and what he could find in the giant’s castle.

Can we take inspiration from David Hockney and create different shaped lines with paint?

Let's have a look at David Hockney's art work from the past 70 years!

While we are looking at his art work, I want you to closely observe each of his painting and look at the different kinds of lines he has used!

Click on the picture above to see his amazing art work!

Now we are going to practice painting by using different brush strokes to help us create a variety of lines and marks!

Throughout Year 1, we have been talking about feelings and linking them with colours. We know:

happy

sad

calm

excited

shocked

worried

Every time we look at Picture News, we see words relating to many feelings people have when they hear or read the news. Today we are going to think about what those feelings might look like in another person's body language and actions.
