What sound does the 'y' make in this word?

Together we are going to write a sentence with this word but before we do lets - think it, say it, read it and write it.

Talk partners

Lets recap the story and see how much we remember, answer these questions below with your talk partners!

What did Jack trade to get the beans?

How did Jacks mum feel when he came home from the market?

How do you think Jack felt when he got the beans?

What did Jack steal from the giant?

How did the giant feel?

What was your favourite part of the story?

Lets have a look at these key events from the story!

Activity

Around the classroom I have put some key vocabulary from the 'Jack and the beanstalk' book! Your challenge is to look around the classroom and find the words with your talk partner and do the following challenges :

- decode the words using your phonics

- clap the number of syllables in the word

- what do you think the word means

- make a sentence including the word.

We will then go through all the words together as a class!

Can we make close observations and describe some of the key features of the trees in our school grounds?

Today we are going outside to observe the trees in our school grounds.

Remember to look for roots, trunks, leaves and anything else you find interesting.

How many different trees can you find?

How do you know they are different? What do you notice?

Can we express the qualities of a good parent?

Why do Christian’s say God is a father?

The term father was first used in the bible in Hebrew as ‘abba’ which best translates as ‘daddy’. This suggests a loving and personal relationship with God.

Our families

Talk partners.
What roles do the people have in the families?

What ways do parents need to care for their children?

Today we are going to create a class ‘recipe’ for a good parent. Do we remember what a recipe is?

We will add this to our RE learning wall to remind us what a loving, caring and good parent looks like.
