Do we know what to do if there is an accident or if someone is hurt?
Talk partners:
What would you do if you saw someone was involved in an accident or hurt?
Dangers: The first and most important thing that you need to do if someone is hurt is to check for dangers. Look around and make sure that there is nothing dangerous that can hurt them, you or anyone around.
Some dangerous things you might see are: hard or sharp objects, liquid spills, vehicles moving or dangerous animals
Call for help: If someone is hurt, the best idea is to get an adult's help straight away. They will be able to help you to know what to do. You could ask a friend or someone nearby to go and get a trusted adult so you can stay with the person who is hurt.
Find out information: If the person who is hurt can communicate with you, you can ask them what happened. It is a good idea to ask them where it hurts and what they can remember. You can then give this information to any adults that come to help.
Make them feel comfortable: While you are waiting for help, talk to the person. You can tell them that help is coming and that you will stay with them until an adult is there to help. You can make them comfortable by giving them a jacket or blanket if they are cold.
Now we are going to read some statements together. I want you to decide if the statements are true or false!
