What is school like in other countries?

Listen, think, share

Ask the children what a typical day is like for them. Talk about when we get up, what do we do? How do we get to school? What might we have for lunch? List a typical day for most children. Talk about all the adults who help us throughout our day and all the things we use.

Look at the KS1 resource and the two images -talk about what is similar and the differences in each classroom. Talk about the sizes of the rooms, the resources and numbers of children.Explain that some countries don’t have as much money for their schools, but this doesn’t stop a lot of learning taking place! Ask the children what they think is the most important thing we need to learn – talk about the importance and value of our teachers!

Reflection

We will be thankful for the wonderful resources that we have and all the adults who help us. We will think about how different other classrooms are around the world and understand that learning can take place in lots of different places!
