LC: to read and understand simile starters

Read the sentences below and circle the

simile starter. 

What picture do they create in  your mind?

 

As quick as lightning, the eagle swooped from the sky and snatched its prey.

Like a fire sweeping over him, blind rage filled every cell of his being.

As slippery as an eel, he escaped from the clutches of his attacker.

As pale as death, he could not speak to warn others of the danger ahead.

 

Now, let's continue the sentences after the simile starter with our own ideas. 

Tell your talk partner your ideas for each one.
