3: Theme: What Is Worth Celebrating in Life?

The word holiday comes from the words holy day. Long ago, special days were set aside for worship, rest and celebration.

Today, people celebrate many different special days. Some are religious, some are cultural and some mark important moments in our lives.

Think about a special day you celebrate. Why is it important to you?

Celebrations remind us of what we value: family, friendship, faith, kindness, freedom and community.

UNCRC Article 14: Every child has the right to their own thoughts, beliefs and religion.

British Values : Mutual Respect and Tolerance: We respect different faiths, beliefs and ways of celebrating.

Reflection: What is worth celebrating in your life? How can we show respect for celebrations that are different from our own?
