LC: To plan a recount diary.
Look back at the plan that we completed together. Today you are going to think of new ideas and decide the location of where the Iron Man is stood.

1. First choose your location
Forest

Jungle with a waterfall

Woods

Your teacher will give you your chosen setting.
Around your chosen setting, you are going to think of some powerful descriptive words.
Below are some to help you.
Thick, deep, dense, - forest, jungle or woods
Rough, sharp, thorny, spiky - branches, brambles, bushes, forest floor
Creepy, eerie, mysterious, sinister, menacing, dangerous - waterfall, woods
Thick vines like emerald green ropes.
Narrow winding trail through a tangle of thorny brambles.
Decaying carpet of rotting leaves and dead branches.
Roots like enormous wooden tentacles.
Spread and twisted together like a prehistoric beast.
Add your notes to your plan on your table.
Now, let's choose where your character falls from.
The top of a canopy? A waterfall?
The spear-like branches had tips like fingernails.
In the canopy, the tops of the trees were joined together like a crowd of vivid-green umbrellas.
Choose what your character falls on to.
Don't forget to add your notes on to the table above.
LC: To be able to convert minutes into seconds.

LC: To predict what might happen from details stated and implied.
Remember...
A prediction isn’t what you want to happen next, it’s what you think will happen next, based on the story.
Stay true to what you know and don’t let your imagination run away with you!

Whole Class
John was out hiking in the woods. Though he had been warned by the man behind the desk at the hotel to wear bells on his shoelaces, and to carry bear repellant, John had gone out into the wilderness unprepared. He was walking along, carefree and humming, when he rounded a bend and in his path there was...

Independent Activity
Stephen had just finished building his model of Blackpool Tower out of matchsticks. He had been working away all afternoon, building it up little by little, on the coffee table in the lounge. He had just very carefully placed the last matchstick on top of the model when his little brother Frank dashed into the room.

Challenge
Carol was making a cherry pie. She put her pie in the oven, but forgot to set the timer. Then she left the kitchen and went to clean up her bedroom. While she was doing that, the phone rang, and she sat down on her bed to talk to her best friend. They talked for over an hour, until Carol was startled by a shrill, piercing noise that wouldn’t stop.
