Thursday 16th April

LC: To finish planning for a recount diary.

Yesterday you had the opportunity to choose the setting for your main character and decide where your main character falls from . You should have also decided what your character falls on to.

You should have completed boxes one and two in your plan.

Let's take a look at the third and final box.

Let's decide who comes to try and trap the Iron Man.

Angry Farmers?

Angry Engineers?

Where does the Iron man hide?

Don't forget to add your notes on to your table.

Sam crept quietly along the garden path, careful not to make a sound. The sun was beginning to set, and long shadows stretched across the grass. Behind the old wooden shed, something shiny caught Sam’s eye.

Sam knelt down and gently pushed aside the damp leaves. Buried deep in the soil was a small silver key, covered in mud but still sparkling in the fading light. Sam picked it up and turned it over in his hand, wondering what it might unlock.

R - Where did Sam find the silver key?

I - Why do you think Sam was careful not to make a sound?

C -Why do you think the author describes the key as “sparkling in the fading light”?

John was out hiking in the woods. Though he had been warned by the man behind the desk at the hotel to wear bells on his shoelaces, and to carry bear repellant, John had gone out into the wilderness unprepared. He was walking along, carefree and humming, when he rounded a bend and in his path there was...

Independent Activity
1) Stephen had just finished building his model of Blackpool Tower out of matchsticks. He had been working away all afternoon, building it up little by little, on the coffee table in the lounge. He had just very carefully placed the last matchstick on top of the model when his little brother Frank dashed into the room.

2) Sam sat down at the table to eat his breakfast. Next to his cereal was a large glass of orange juice, filled right up to the top. As Sam reached across the table to grab his school book, his elbow knocked against the glass, which began to wobble closer and closer to the edge of the table.

Challenge
Carol was making a cherry pie. She put her pie in the oven, but forgot to set the timer. Then she left the kitchen and went to clean up her bedroom. While she was doing that, the phone rang, and she sat down on her bed to talk to her best friend. They talked for over an hour, until Carol was startled by a shrill, piercing noise that wouldn’t stop.
