LC: To use split pins to create a lever.

Let's take a look at our finished backgrounds.

This week we have 2 tasks!

Task 1

We are going to create a slot for Greenling to pop up through. Your teacher will give you a printed picture of Greenling.

Step 1: Cut out Greenling and attach him to some card. Now cut out the card so that Greenling is not floppy.

Step 2: You should have created a slot that is 4cm 's wide. Your teacher will now give a long strip of card that is 3cm wide.

Step 3: Poke your long strip of card through the slot and glue Greenling at the top.

Step 4: Test your slot. Greenling should be able to pop up and down out of your flower.

Task 2

We are going to create a lever which allows Clac to pivot up and down using a split pin.

Step 1: Cut out the picture of Clack.

Step 2: Glue the picture of Clack on to some card so that he is not floppy. Now cut out the picture of Clac again.

Step 3: Cut Clack in half from his waist.

Step 4: Your teacher will give you a little blob of blue tack and a split pin each. Take your pencil and mark where you will be adding a split pin on to Clac.

Step 5: Create a small hole for your split pin.

Step 6: Add your split pin and test to see if Clac can pivot.

Step 7: Glue Clac on to your background.

LC: To explore and explain how an object moves on different surfaces.

Last week we discussed how to set up an experiment. We discussed the terms, 'fair' and 'reliable', can we remember what these terms mean?

Now let's do our experiment and record our results. I wonder if our predictions are accurate?

The surface with greatest amount of friction is ...

The surface with the least amount of friction is ...

I have observed that ________________ surfaces have the least amount of friction.

I have observed that ________________ surfaces have the most amount of friction.
