Can you research features of Burnley and the surrounding area using key vocabulary?

Can you identify a range of landmarks in Burnley?

Burnley is a town in Lancashire, England, with a population of 94,700. It is 21 miles north of Manchester and 20 miles east of Preston.

The town is located near the breath taking Pennine countryside to the south and east, with the towns of Padiham and Brierfield to the west and north. The town lies in a natural valley surrounded by open fields, with wild moorland at higher altitudes.

In Year 1, you learned about things that are physical (natural) and things that are human (made by humans).

Today we will look at physical and human landmarks around our town.

What is a landmark?

A landmark is something that is easily recognisable, such as a building or a statue, but it could be a physical feature such as an ice-burg, a mountain or a waterfall.

Let's take a look at some of the recognisable landmarks around Burnley.
