Let's recap yesterday's guided practice.

To say, write and punctuate simple and compound sentences.

We are going to use the knowledge we gained from our drama to write in the role of Plop to the lady from Chapter 2.

Talk to your partner, what do remember from Chapter 2?

What did the old lady think Plop was? What did the old lady tell Plop? How did Plop feel about the dark after their conversation?

Let's look at an example:

Let's read Chapter 3: Dark is Fun.

This week is a special time to help children and young people share their ideas and feel listened to, its called Mental Health week.

Mental health is about how we feel inside our minds and hearts.

Just like we look after our bodies, we also need to look after our feelings. Sometimes we feel happy and calm, and sometimes we feel sad, worried, or cross – and that’s okay.

The theme for this week is  “This is My Place” means belonging. Belonging is when you feel happy, safe, and included. You can belong in your family, at school, with your friends, or in your community.

When children feel that they belong, it helps them feel good inside, feel confident, and do their best learning and playing.

Everyone can help make our school a kind and welcoming place. By being friendly, sharing, and including others, we help everyone feel that this is their place.

Think of all the places you belong - family, school, mosque, clubs, friendship groups, a favourite place to read or play, a garden or park, a country...

By creating our own piece of art, we can:

  • show who we are

  • share what is special to us

  • see that everyone belongs in different ways

When we hang all our artwork together, it shows that we are all part of one big community. Even though we are different, we all belong, and belonging helps our mental health.
