Tuesday

To be able to understand that multiplication is the same as repeated addition of equal groups.

Let’s recap and try the guided practice together.

Now turn to page 57 and 58 in your MNP books.

Grammar Warm Up

An adjective is a word that describes a noun (the name of a thing or a place).

It was a terrible book.

The word 'terrible' is an adjective. It tells us what the book (the noun) was like.

In the deep, green forest, a small, brown squirrel scampered up a tall, rough tree.
The cool, gentle breeze brushed through the bright, yellow leaves.
Below, a sleepy, grey hedgehog curled up in a soft, cosy nest made of dry, crackly leaves.
The forest was quiet and peaceful, filled with tiny, busy creatures hiding in the dark, damp shadows.

  • What do these adjectives tell us about the noun?

  • Which ones are more interesting or precise?

  • How do they make the reader imagine the scene?

Let's take a look at the blurb and look for clues to find out more about the story.

Before we start reading this exciting story, there are a few words/phrases we need to know the meaning of first:

daring- adventurous courage

treacherous- hidden or unpredictable dangers

overcoming challenges- succeed in dealing with a problem or difficulty

We will model how to use these words in a sentence then it's your turn to choose one and write a sentence of your own.

Can you research what a habitat and micro habitat are?

What is a habitat?

A habitat is the environment where different animal and plants live. It provides everything they needs to survive.

Habitats can be as small as a puddle or as large as a forest. They can be found on land, in water, and even in the air.

All animals need the same important things to survive; water, air, shelter and food and a habitat provides plenty of all of them for all the species that are found there.

Investigate the habitat you would find these animals.
