Monday

To be able to use place value to compare two or three numbers and determine which number is bigger or smaller. To be able to arrange three numbers in order of size.

Compare the tens column of all three numbers to find the greatest number.

Compare the two numbers with the same tens by comparing the ones' column to decide which is greater.

Place these numbers in order from smallest to greatest and vice versa.

Sequence sentences to form short narratives - un, because, and when.

Today we are going to write the beginning part of our innovated narrative of Jack and the Beanstalk together as a class!

Narrative is another word for story.

Your teacher will model writing the sentences and you will write them in your books.

Remember to share your amazing ideas with everyone!

Make sure your sentences start with a capital letter, you leave spaces between words, your handwriting is beautiful and your sentences end with a full stop.

Think about what Jack might need to sell at the market instead of the cow  and what he could find in the giant’s castle.

Symbols and meanings

Water- it is the most important symbol. John the Baptist used water (Mt 3:11; Mk 1:8a; Jn 1:33; 3:23), as did Jesus (Jn 3:22). It represents the washing away of sins, new life and power.

Oil- it represents power, strength and being saved as Christian believe Jesus is the Saviour of the World.

Candle- it is lit from the Easter Candle and represents Jesus as the Light of the World. It also represents faith which burns brightly in those baptised.

Dove- the dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was baptised, the heavens were opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in the form of a dove, and every person who is baptised receives the same Holy Spirit. Jesus baptises with the Holy Spirit (Mk 1:8; Jn 1:33).

Cross- the cross represent a Christian's belief in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. It also represents life, death and rebirth.
