PSHCE

Friday 16th May 2025

LC: To recognise positive things about ourselves and our achievements; set goals.

You are going to have some time to reflect and think about your qualities.

Are you funny?

Are you patient?

Are you good at giving advise?

Do you like to help others?

Share one positive thing about yourself with your partner and choose one thing that you think that you could be better at.

Sometimes, it can be difficult to say what our own personal qualities are. Therefore, you will each be given a kindness card.

Choose one person from your class and write down what is great about them. Post your letter in to the Kindness Mail Box. All deliveries will be ready for you to open after lunch!

LC: To describe changes in a river as it flows along its course.

Reflecting on our learning from yesterday, can you tell your talk partner the name of the river that runs through our town?

We are going to understand the flow of a river.

Here are some keywords that will help us to understand.

Let's take a look at where a river starts from:

River Brun starts from a village near a place called Hurstwood

Here is what it looks like from the source of the river:

Let's experiment with some sand!

Can you see how the water has spread?

Here is a video of one part of a river

Flow of River

The water is flowing slowly.

Where do you think this part is in the course of the river?

Now, take a look at the next video. Is this water from the upper, middle or lower course?

Changed Flow

Can you create some actions to describe the course of a river...

A river begins at its source in the mountains, where cold water flows downwards. As it travels, it forms tributaries, joining other streams along the way. In the upper course, the river is narrow and fast. When it reaches the middle course, it begins to widen and slow down. Finally, in the lower course, the river flows gently before reaching its mouth, where it meets the sea.

Now complete the worksheet:

Now we will discuss what we will be doing on our field trip on Monday.

Your teacher will talk you through the following:

- Route to Thompson Park

- Safety at the park and around the water

- Sunscreen and hats

- What you are going to do at the park
