Her brother, Max, replied, We should head home before it starts.
As they began to walk, Lily asked, Do you think we'll make it in time?
Max smiled and said, Let's run just to be safe!

What is an adverb?

Let's take a look at some adverbs below. Can you think of a sentence including an adverb?

Activity

Extend these simple three word sentences by adding adverbs and further information to make them more interesting. I have added an adjective and an adverb in the sentence below!

 

An owl hooted.

An elegant, snow-white owl hooted loudly from high up in the trees.

 

A boy shouted. 

The witch laughed.

My uncle sneezed. 

The dog barked.
