Let's play BINGO!

I'm going to play the video again and you need to put a counter on a word, when you hear it in the song.

Now we are going to highlight key words in the lyrics below.

Tell me about the word 'poison'. What is the importance of it within the story?

Boudicca Song Lyrics

[Intro]

Gonna cause a stink

Won't be the first to blink

I'm not who you think

Don't mess with me, I'm Boudicca

[Verse 1]

My husband Prasutagus died, he was a Celtic king

I was his queen, so due to me was half of everything

Roman law gave half to me, so half was what they got

'Til their nasty soldiers came and took the blessed lot

Hey mister, I say you got the wrong end of the stick

His answer turned this sister into one angry chick

[Chorus]

No man, Roman'll push around this woman

You won't get far with Boudicca

Bowmen, yeomen, smash the Roman foemen

All say yah (yah!)

Boudicca

[Verse 2]

I built a massive army, headed straight for the city

Beat 'em all with ease, unlike me, it wasn't pretty

Chopped 'em and hacked, but what made their red blood curl

(Bad enough being beaten, but beaten by a girl?)

[Chorus]

Whacked 'em, smacked 'em, boy, how we attacked 'em

Near and far, ha ha ha!

Flayed 'em, slayed 'em, up and down parade 'em

Boudicca

Toughest by far

[Hook]

Colchester, London, St. Albans

Everybody talk about dead Romans!

[Verse 3]

We marched on up the Roman road that's known as Watling Street

They trapped us in the forest, then thrashed us to our defeat

By now, you'd guessed I'm not the kind of girl to sit and cry

Be sold a slave to Romans? You know I'd rather die!

They tried to take me prisoner, so I led the Roman boys on

Instead of giving in to them, I swallowed special poison

[Chorus]

Martyr, smarter, capturer, non-starter

This was our last hurrah

Slaughtered, dismembered, our tribe always remembered

Boudicca! Superstar!

Boudicca! Superstar!

Religious Education - Sikhism

Monday 28th April 2025

LC: To be able to produce a drama sketch of Guru Nanak’s life and describe his significance.

Last week we had our special visitor in and we asked her some questions about Sikhism. Speak to your talk partner and tell them one thing that you can remember from last weeks lesson.

This week we will be watching a clip about the story of Guru Nanak.

Your teacher will play you the video.

Let's discuss each freeze frame:

You will now form groups and create a drama sketch highlighting the main events of Guru Nanak's life. You will need approximately five people in your group.

Scene 1: As a young boy Nanak listens to the village holy men. The men talk about religion and the best way to live. But Nanak is frustrated by their claims to know what is right.

(Nanak sits with two other men in the forest, discussing what they think god is)

Scene 2: Nanak is given goods to sell by his father. He goes to the market and gives away everything that he has to poor people instead of selling the items. He believed that he should help the poor.

Scene 3: Nanak goes to the river to bathe. He leaves his clothes in a neat pile and dives into the river. Nanak disappears below the water. Two days pass and Nanak's family and the villagers believe he must have drowned. Then, on the third day, Nanak reappears in exactly the same spot where he had disappeared.

Later, he explains that during his time under the water he had a vision of God - and that he has been given a message that he must share with as many people as he can. The message is that God loves everyone and that he wants everyone to live their lives peacefully with one another.
