Today we are to look back at chapter 2 and have a go at Review 2.
Remember when we have a go at reviews, we must complete our work independently.
Turn to page 54, 55 and 56.
To generate, select and effectively use adjectives.
Today we are going to apply the knowledge we learned during our troll story to think of adjectives to describe things Tom might see in the desert.
Let's remind ourselves what adjectives are, and what they are used for.
An adjective is a word that describes a noun (the name of a thing or a place). 'It was a terrible book. ' The word 'terrible' is an adjective.
Watch the video below for you to work in groups to talk about what you can see and what words you would use to describe the plants and animals.
Write a sentence to describe something that Tom saw.
Tom saw the gigantic, green tress.
Tom saw the enormous, deadly King Cobra.
What similarities and differences can we find between our own lives and Sir Robert Falcon Scott's life?
Robert Falcon Scott was born on the 6th of June 1868 in his family home just outside of Davenport, England. He grew up as the middle of five children.
His family had a strong naval background he followed this family tradition by joining the Royal Navy in 1880.
In June 1910, Scott led an expedition, this time on a ship, called the Terra Nova. This expedition was done with the main aim of being the first explorer to reach the South Pole.
He tried to get there before Norwegian explorer Captain Roald Amundsen. However the Norwegian explorers reached the South Pole first.
