Maths

To be able to understand that multiplication is the same as repeated addition of equal groups.

Let’s recap and try the guided practice together.

Now turn to page 57 and 58 in your MNP books.

Today we are going to use the poem’5 Little Pumpkins’ as a model for our new poem.

You are going to change the little pumpkins for your own spooky character and where they are sitting.

Are they going to be sitting on a gate, a log, a wall, a mat …

e.g.

Five little ghosts sitting on a mat.

The first one said, “Oh my, there’s a bat”

The second one said, “It’s flying in the air”

The third one said, “But we don’t care”

The fourth one said, “Let’s run and run and run”

The fifth one said, “We’re ready for some fun”

Oooh went the wind and out went the lights

And five little ghosts floated out of sight

Can you reflect on the different ways the humans use light?

How and why do we use light? Why is light important to us?

Let's begin with a story about a frightful night when the light played tricks on a group of friends.

Watch carefully

We see things when our eyes receive light from them. Objects like the sun, lamp and candle produce light. Such objects are called luminous objects. When the light from luminous objects reaches our eyes, we are able to see things around us.

Where does light come from?

We get light from a range of different sources- like a torch or the sun. Although the moon appears to light the night sky, this isn't a source of light. It reflects the sun's light like a large mirror.

In your books write a list of light sources (where we get light from).
