 What is a hero?

Can you sort these words? Which ones describe a hero and which ones don't?

Brave

Someone who is worried about doing something, but does it anyway.

Look at this firefighter. He is going upstairs to put out the fire whilst everyone else is trying to get out away from the fire.

Kind

Someone who thinks about others and does nice things for them.

This little girl is offering someone her apple.

Selfish

Someone who keeps everything for themselves. They don't share things.

This little girl is keeping all the toys for themself.

Patient

Someone who knows how to wait for something.

This little boy is waiting patiently to have a cake.

A good listener

Someone who listens to what their friend is saying. They wait for their turn to talk.

This girl is looking at her friend whilst she is talking. She is listening to what she is saying and waiting for her turn to talk.

Mean

Someone who does things that aren't very nice. 

This little girl is hurting someone, but you can hurt someone with your words too.

Helpful

Someone who does   something for someone else. This might be doing a job for someone else or telling someone how to do something they find tricky.

These children are helping their family with the cleaning.

Friendly

Someone who is nice to others. They play with others and ask people to join in with their games.

These two girls are giving each other a friendly hug.

Respectful

Someone who treats others like they would want to be treated.

These children are shaking hands after playing a game together.
