Tuesday

Instead of taking rubbish to the landfill, let’s look at some pages of our information book about recycling to see what happens to the rubbish we recycle. Let’s use the contents page to find information on recycling glass, paper and metal.

Make some notes for each page to use when we make our own information books about recycling page.

Weight

Weight is how we measure how heavy or light something is.  Yesterday we looked at measuring some items in the classroom. We predicted which one would be the heavy one and which one would be the light one.

Today, we are going to compare the weight of some objects using the words heavier and lighter.

Which object do you think will be heavier?

The water bottle or the pencil?

Let's put it in a sentence.

"I think the water bottle will be heavier than the pencil."

Which object do you think will be lighter?

The chair or a book?

Let's put it in a sentence.

"I think the book will be lighter than the chair."

Let's try some more together. Remember to put your prediction in a sentence using the words heavier and lighter.

Challenge: What else could you compare the weight of? Which object will be heavier or lighter and why? Can you explain why you think your answer?
