How do Christians celebrate Christmas?

The Christmas tree is an evergreen symbolising God's everlasting love

People put stars or angels on the top of their trees to remember parts of the Nativity story.

Presents are given to remember that Jesus is a gift from God.

Candy canes and gifts symbolise the shepherds and wise men who went to visit Jesus.

Wreaths are used to decorate. They are circular symbolising God's never ending love.

People have a Christmas celebration with their friends and family with decorations, food, and nice clothes.

Many people go to church to remember Jesus' birth and pray.

Part Part Whole

We use a part part whole model when adding or subtracting numbers.

It shows us the 2 parts that make a whole number.

Let's have a look at a part part whole model for number 5.

What are the 2 parts in this number?

1 and 4  are the 2 parts. We can add them together to make 5. 5 is the whole number - who many we have altogether.

What is the missing part in these part part whole models?

Can you fill out the missing numbers in the part part whole?
