LC: To describe how changes to an environment could endanger living things.
Let's watch a video and see if you can work out what today's lesson is about.
Not getting rid of our rubbish correctly does not just look bad but it can actually cause harm.
What do I mean by that?
Talk to your partners.

Hopefully you have said some of these things.
Animals can climb inside plastic bags and suffocate, or attempt to eat them and choke.
Animals looking for food can get trapped in cans or injured by sharp edges.
Broken glass can also cause serious injury. It's easy for animals to become trapped in jars.
Litter is something that we are all aware of from a young age and some of us have admitting to throwing things on the floor and not using bins. However, what we may not realise is that you cannot see all litter with the naked eye. When plastic breaks down it does not disappear, it just gets smaller and smaller, and even a very small particle can be harmful to a very small creature. They are eaten by natures invertebrate scavengers both on land and in the sea and are then passed down the food chain and can even be found in the foods we eat. We need to be aware of the harm micro plastics can do and take steps to stop them getting into the food chain.

Did you know?
Even if you live hundreds of miles away from the sea, the plastic you use can still make its way into the ocean. As much as 80% of the plastic in our seas comes from land sources. What does this mean? The plastic is not necessarily thrown directly into the sea, but it still ends up there.
- Birds eat plastic and are often found with their tummies full of it
- Plastic bags can be mistaken for jellyfish and eaten by turtles.
- Bits of plastic can get stuck in coral reefs and have a negative effect on the health of the reef.
- Plankton can consume microplastic and this can pass the problem back up the food chain and into the food we eat.

Sometimes, accidents happen and those can cause major harm to wildlife.
