Joining materials is very important in engineering. When joining materials we connect different components.

Can you think of ways we can join materials?

 

Materials can be joined together in different ways. Some ways are stronger than others.

Glue and nails create a very strong join.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Some material joins are used to create movement. Paper fasteners can create a joint that allows movement. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Different materials (like metal, wood, or plastic) need different ways to be joined. For example, welding is great for metal, while glue might be used for plastic. 

Joining methods ensure that structures can withstand loads and stresses. Choosing the right method keeps everything strong and safe.
