Friday

To be able to measure the height and length of items using parts of the body

Let's recap our learning from this week

Height -

Length -

Short, shorter, shortest

Tall, taller, tallest

Could we use rubbers to measure the length of this table?

Do you think we could use parts of our body, and which parts could we use?

Let's use our hands to measure our table

How many hands did you need to use to measure the table?

My friend said you could use different people's feet to measure. Would this work? What might be the problem?

If something measures 8 foot lengths, can we say it is also 8 hand lengths? Why or why not?

Create own poem based on a model, selecting key vocabulary and use plurals by adding an ‘s’

Read aloud their writing audibly to adults and peers.

Independent write!

Today you will write your innovated poem independently.

Your teacher will be looking for:

  • Capital letters to begin sentences
  • Full stops to end sentences
  • Capital letters for names
  • spaces between words
  • neat handwriting
  • segmenting for spelling
  • Using the spelling rule for ‘s’ and ‘es’
